Smart Phones

November 2020

Cell phones are a piece of technology which everyone has, and everyone is able to adapt, and change based on their personal preferences. The cultural around cell phones have changed but they are the easiest technology to help other keep in touch. Throughout the decade, cell phones have moved away from just connecting people through talking but has opened many doors into different ways of communication. There is instant messaging through different apps, video calling, and so many more avenues. Smart phones in our world are vastly different from the original cell phone from 1947, which were car phones mainly and sometimes users would have to wait up to thirty minutes in order to talk to someone (Tech Insider, 2017). There were very few people who had cell phones when they were first introduced but now, everyone has one and is always connected to each other through various apps or just through text messaging.

Young adults are the largest group effected by smart phones, which professionals should know about especially if they are trying to advertise to this age group. “Mobile phone has affected almost every field of life but its effects on students' learning especially at university level are deep and in multidimensional and multifarious” (Javid, Malik, & Gujjar, 2011). Smart phones have become the main form of communication and with the ability to use apps to connect and look at social media, it can be easier to spread advertisements from a company. With this new technology it has helped shape the way people are communicating and it can help shape different cultures. “Rather than in-person interact ion, 33% of teens spend more times socializing with close friends online” (Slick Text, 2019). With less in-person interactions, the best way to reach out to most people is through a form of messaging. However, this doesn’t work for all people, nut more and more people are less inclined to call someone else. They would rather text or message the other person, it is easier and that way the other person can multitask. Smart phones have changed the way we communicate with each other and have changed the face of how we interact.
